Is That What You Call a Prayer?

When I was about 8, I was at my grandmother's church for a youth night.

I didn’t really know what was going on, but the one thing I do remember is when the leader asked me to pray.

I froze.

I didn’t really know how to pray, or at least how to pray the way people did at this church. I usually just said what was on my mind and my heart. It was pretty casual.

I felt embarrassed at first, but then someone else started to pray, and I was relieved.

Sometimes we think that prayer has to be this fancy thing, where we say all the big words and sound professional or something.

But that’s not true.

Prayer is a conversation between us and the Lord. It can be long or short, there really isn’t a set time limit. The important thing is that we are being honest with God, speaking the truth, and praying what is on our hearts.

Don’t worry about sounding a certain way. Because at the end of the day, It’s between you and God.

Just stay true and consistent.

Colossians 4:2 -  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Prayer: Dear God, teach me to pray what is true, In Jesus name, Amen.
